Your Responsibilities


As a Fabrication Manufacturing Engineer with John Deere's WW Construction & Forestry Group located in Davenport, IA, you will...


  • Provide weld engineering support and troubleshooting for current operations through investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Establish routings, methods, layouts, tools/tooling, costs, operational methods sheet (OMS), quality plans and labor standards (MPPlanner) for revisions to current operations and/or new parts or programs. 
  • Identify opportunities and implement Continuous Improvement (CI) projects in support of departmental goals for safety, quality, delivery, efficiency, and cost reduction.
  • Lead capital and expense projects of moderate scope.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of new manufacturing processes and technology to expand the use of automation, as well as improve our access to, and utilization of data and data analytics to drive business improvement.

What Skills You Need


  • 2 or more years of Manufacturing Engineering experience
  • 2 or more years of  experience with welding materials and processes
  • 2 or more years of experience with process and work instruction development, tooling design, fixturing, workstation layout, and visual management
  • 2 or more years of experience with weld tooling procurement and estimating part, capital, and labor costs
  • Proficiency in Pro-E/Creo
  • Demonstrated formal/ informal leadership skills
  • Experience building and presenting business justification for capital expenditures
  • Root Cause Analysis experience

Education Details


Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Welding Engineering/Welding Engineering Technology or an Engineering discipline or similar technical degree coupled with relevant experience.
