Responsibilities

 

As the Senior Embedded Systems Engineer working on a hybrid basis within our Embedded Software, Architecture, and Test Engineering division, you will play an integral role on the team developing cutting-edge technologies for our Turf & Compact utility vehicles in Grovetown, GA (25 minutes west of Downtown Augusta).

 

This role will also allow you to lead a software strategy across the vehicle and facilitate and align program timelines. You will also become known as the driving force behind the transition from concept to production software. 

 

Additionally, you will also be involved with...

 

  • Developing concept software with the goal of enabling a successful transition to production software
  • Gathering requirements and writing features at the feature level
  • Performing software feature decomposition 
  • Creating the software strategy for interfaces across the vehicle 
  • Owning interfaces to domain or feature boundaries

What Skills You Need

 

  • Advanced expertise in embedded software development, systems engineering, or control system design experience using C/C++ to design, develop, and maintain complex embedded software systems
  • 4 or more years of experience with utilizing simulation and modeling tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow to develop and maintain complex simulation models and evaluate the design of embedded systems
  • Experience with following rapid prototyping software development processes to design and develop rapid prototypes of embedded software systems
  • A track record of developing and nurturing business relationships in a team-based culture
  • A history of leading and mentoring software engineers

What Makes You Stand Out

 

  • Familiarity with John Deere products, practices, and operations
  • Experience with authoring requirements and utilizing requirements management tools
  • Previous contribution to an Agile team and knowledge of Agile methodology
  • Ability to apply closed-loop control theory to design and implement embedded systems
  • Expertise in CAN J1939 to enable communication between electronic control units (ECUs) in vehicles or heavy equipment

Education

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
