Your Responsibilities

John Deere is looking for a Senior Embedded Security Engineer to join our team that is responsible for securing the Tech Stack used across our fleet of connected and automated machines.  Our team’s mission is to bring the technology to our embedded systems that enables them to be secure, and to drive secure development practices into all of our embedded teams around the globe.

 

We have multiple positions open in this area.  The following are the responsibilities of the team.

  • Threat modeling at the vehicle level, and also the ECU level
  • Influencing the architecture design of new features (embedded, cloud and mobile) to ensure that our security needs can be met
  • Identifying and implementing cryptographic security controls
  • Providing technical leadership to teams to help them grow their security capability
  • Developing tools and frameworks that make it easy for teams to adopt security

What Skills You Need (Required skills/experiences)

  • 5+ years of experience in development of embedded applications in C or C++
  • 3+ years of experience mentoring junior engineers
  • Experience with influencing teams without authority
  • Experience with Linux distributions
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering or experience that would be equivalent.

What Makes You Stand Out (Desired skills/experiences)

  • Experience in the development of embedded systems for vehicles
  • Experience in the development of IoT devices
  • PKI experience
  • Experience in a DevOps role
  • Developed AWS-native applications
  • Understanding of FTP, TLS, UDP, PCI/IP
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering or equivalent.
