Your Responsibilities

 

As a Senior Software Engineer for John Deere Financial located in Ames, IA, you will…

 

  • Coach and mentor college students at Iowa State and University of Illinois Champaign on best practices of software engineering
  • Stay ahead of technology trends, as well as current technologies utilized by JDF IT teams
  • Work on training practices and develop training curriculum/software to help the students learn and grow in those technologies
  • Participate in college relationship building activities and recruiting events
  • Influence curriculum at ISU and UIUC by working with college staff
  • Share best practices with other units on the training process for early talent at John Deere Financial
  • Research and develop new technologies for JDF

What Skills You Need

 

  • 2 + years of strong development skills (including Test Driven Development with languages like Java, React, Node, Python and/or SAP/ABAP)
  • 1 + years of experience with AWS implementation of infrastructure (e.g. Lambdas and Fargate using Terraforms)
  • 1 + years of experience in teaching industry-standard agile software design methodology for development and documentation

What Makes You Stand Out

 

  • Good understanding of JDF IT standards and practices 
  • Experience working with several JDF IT applications
  • Experience with SAP development
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, or training others

Education

 

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or an Engineering/Technology discipline
