Your Responsibilities

As a Competency Lead for Application Equipment (Agricultural Sprayers and Floater/Spreaders), you will perform design, development and verification of passive and active suspension systems. This includes spring mass/dampers, isolators, and actuators to optimize vehicle behavior with respect to machine critical functions such as boom control and operator comfort.  In addition, you will:

  • Develop analysis plans, analyze and characterize current suspension designs and vehicle dynamics
  • Develop new design concepts, work with a larger team of experts in analysis, structural and systems design to execute concepts and design work
  • Maintain internal and external relationships and actively participate in Platform and Enterprise community of experts
  • Lead solutions related to vehicle dynamics, suspension and chassis design, identify and organize resources
  • Act as a technical advisor
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of industry and technical innovations in the technical discipline

What Skills You Need

  • Deep and broad understanding of vehicle dynamics and relevant analysis techniques (MBD)
  • Experienced in design of passive and active suspension systems; Suspension Kinematics and Steering Geometry Design - Suspension Component Design (Springs, Dampers, Ball Joins, Anti-roll bars, bushings, etc.)
  • Experience in performing complex engineering assignments
  • 4 or more years of suspension system engineering, component design and Analysis
  • 4 or more years of technical experience relating to design or diagnostics of mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems
  • 4 or more years of experience with engineering tools, systems and databases
  • 1 or more years of product test and analysis experience
  • 1 or more years of product design experience

Other areas of experience or interest that will help us place you on the right team include:

  • Fundamental understanding of agricultural machine forms
  • 4 or more years of experience in capacity for ride tuning
  • Deep Customer Understanding and able to translate customer needs into functional requirements
  • 4 or more years of technical leadership within a unit or platform
  • 4 or more years of PV&V (test planning, test development, test management)
  • Knowledge of the Enterprise TDP, ISDP and EPDP processes Work Experience

Education (or equivalent work experience)

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Ag Sciences, Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering
  • Advanced degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • Design for Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
