 This position may be located at either the John Deere Des Moines Works factory in Ankeny, Iowa, or at the John Deere Technology Innovation Center (JDTIC) in Ames, Iowa.


The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.


Your Responsibilities


As a Part-Time Student for John Deere's Crop Care located in Ankeny, Iowa, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of data projects as well as work with analytics professionals in other areas of the company.  The intended work locations are either at the Des Moines Works factory in Ankeny, Iowa or the John Deere JDTIC in Ames, Iowa. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Effectively communicate and work in a team environment
  • Apply technical knowledge to generate insights
  • Validate offboard data to ensure data quality
  • Fulfill data analysis requests
  • Create or maintain dashboards using data science tools (Python, R, SQL, Tableau)

What Skills You Need


  • Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Analytics; others may apply

  • Must be registered as a full-time student at a local accredited university
  • Graduation date of May 2024 or later
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
  • Available to work 10-20 hours/week during the academic year
  • Available to work 40 hours/week during the summer
  • Must be able to commute to the work location on a regular basis year-round
  • Experience with at least one programming language (Python, R or SQL)
  • Effective communication skills both oral and written

What Makes You Stand Out


  • Experience with Databricks and/or Tableau
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Sharepoint
  • Knowledge or work experience in production agriculture (specifically tillage, planters or sprayers)

NOTE: For Iowa State University students, this assignment will qualify for ISU course credit as a co-op/internship position working 20 hours per week.
