Your Responsibilities

As a Embedded Software Engineer located in Austin, TX in John Deere’s Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG) focused on Crop Care Software, you will be a member of an embedded development scrum team working with multiple stakeholders to build and implement functionality for self-propelled application equipment.  In addition, you will: 

  • Design, develop, and test software for a broad spectrum of Deere equipment functionality 
  • Operate in a scrum team environment on varying projects with direction from a project lead(s). 
  • Provide product support of the system(s). 

What Skills You Need (Required skills/experiences)

  • Multiple years of experience in embedded software development with experience in design, development, and testing
  • Multiple years of experience in software development in C, C++, and/or other scripting programming languages
  • Experience with real-time operating system concepts
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability and experience working in a self-directed mode
  • Strong demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% (both domestically and internationally)

What Makes You Stand Out (Desired skills/experiences)

  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies
  • Multiple years of experience with CAN communication protocols such as J1939 and ISO 11783
  • Experience using Matlab, Simulink, and Stateflow
  • Experience with Qt
  • Experience with control system design
  • Technical experience relating to design/diagnostics of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic systems in an automotive or agricultural setting


Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

Bachelor’s degree in (specify degree or degrees) Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science
