This position is located at the JDTIC Research Park on the campus of the University Of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.


The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule.


Your Responsibilities


As a Part-Time Student-Controls for John Deere's Intelligent Solution Group (ISG) Electrification Team located at JDTIC at Champaign, Ilinois,  you will:


  • Analyze and interpret the controls system requirement based on project needs
  • Conduct electric drive component/sub-system and/or vehicle system modeling and simulation
  • Review the simulation results and evaluate eDrive/vehicle performance including corner conditions
  • Develop advanced controls solutions at both component and system levels
  • Document modeling/simulation work and other development effort

What Skills You Need


  • Knowledge of Matlab/Simulink simulation tools
  • Knowledge of control system theory
  • Knowledge of electric drive or electro-mechanical energy conversion
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills (English)

What Makes You Stand Out


  • Knowledge of advanced simulation capabilities (scripting, SimScape, etc)
  • Knowledge of advanced control system
  • Knowledge of advanced power electronics and electric drive control
  • Knowledge of digital signal processing


Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:


  • Pursuit of an engineering degree in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering. Graduate students are preferred.
