Onsite/Remote: Onsite Position 

 

The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule.

 

This position will be located at the John Deere Technology Innovation Center (JDTIC) in the Research Park on the University Of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus in Champaign, Illinois.

 

Your Responsibilities

 

As a Part-time Student Soil Scientist for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG) located in the Research Park at Champaign, llinois, you will:

 

  • Develop and perform tests to evaluate the performance of technologies in measuring the physical, chemical, and biological traits of soil in lab and field settings
  • Collect and analyze data related to those tests
  • Perform lab work to measure soil attributes and calibrate technologies

What Skills You Need

 

  • Ideally you will be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate student in soil science, chemistry, environmental science or related fields
  • Must be registered as a full-time student at a local accredited university
  • Graduation date of December 2022 or later
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
  • Must be able to commute to the work location on a daily basis
  • Available to work 15-to-20 hours per week during the academic year
  • Available to work 35-to-40 hours during the summer semester
  • Experience performing soils test in a lab environment
  • Basic programming experience in Python or similar language
  • Experience analyzing soils data
