Your Responsibilities

As an API Engineering Manager for Dealer Systems & Services located in Chicago, IL you will….

  • Build, mentor, and lead a new software engineering team focused on empowering our global dealer network through advanced data access and integration capabilities with John Deere
  • Collaborate closely with product leadership on the vision, strategy, & roadmap, providing technical perspective and insights
  • Manage the staffing strategy to ensure scrum teams have modern, industry leading technical capabilities
  • Be a servant leader for scrum teams, removing impediments and aligning efforts to improve the customer experience and deliver business outcomes
  • Be a technical leader for scrum teams with focus on full stack technical capabilities, DevOps practices, and software quality & security
  • Partner closely with Architects, Scrum Masters, and Agile Coaches on technology roadmaps and fostering an agile mindset and culture
  • Provide team motivation, recognition, and constructive performance feedback

What Skills You Need

  • 3 or more years of experience in API management and tooling including but not limited to Azure API Management, Apigee, Kong or MuleSoft
  • 5 or more years developing and delivering high quality, performant, secure software
  • 5 or more years of experience leveraging DevSecOps culture, tools, & practices
  • 3 or more years of experience with the design and development of service-oriented architecture solutions (REST Web Services)
  • 3 or more years of experience in developing and supporting production critical products
  • Strong understanding of Agile development processes and methodologies/tools
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to partner easily with a variety of working styles
  • Demonstrated experience working with multiple technical stacks and platforms.

  • Experience with technical education, and support for B2B, B2C, and public on usage of API products

  • Working knowledge and implementation of cloud technologies including but not limited to Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud
  • Proven experience leading software engineering teams
  • Proven leadership experience in an Agile organization


Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

Bachelor's degree in either Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, MIS, or other IT related discipline or equivalent experience
