John Deere is currently going through a Smart Industrial Redesign transformation. To support our journey, it takes a unique skill set. We recognize that may be available in the Chicagoland market. As a Senior Cloud Software Engineer you will provide tangible expertise on big data and streaming technologies in the cloud, and how to leverage these to build a Scalable Data & Analytics solutions.

  • Develop new code for high-volume data processes
  • Supervise and support day to day ETL processes loading & redefining large data volumes
  • Participate in discussions, and decisions regarding future engineering direction
  • Provide recommendations to the business and IT for existing and future solutions in support of Deere's Data & Analytics programs
  • Focus on Big Data and Cloud Based technologies as well as IOT based data streams
  • Understand and lead cost implications of proposed solutions and implementation of controls and management utilities
  • Provide expertise to resolve critical, sophisticated, technical issues around Big Data and Analytic technology
  • Act as an escalation point for defects/outages as well as design/engineering issues
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with existing source data teams, Data and Analytic platform teams, and business analytics teams
Required Qualifications:
  • 8 or more years’ experience in the design, development, testing and integration of high complex software utilizing Java, Scala, Node, or Python
  • 8 or more years’ understanding of applications development environment, database, data management, and infrastructure capabilities and constraints
  • 7 or more years’ experience in an Agile/Scrum team environment
  • 7 or more years’ experience leveraging DevSecOps and lean development principles (Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery)
  • 4 or more years’ understanding of full-stack design patterns and crafting loosely coupled architectures
  • AWS data tools experience (EMR, Data Pipelines, Redshift, RDS etc)
  • 4 or more years’ technical experience in multiple Data Warehouse systems or Data Lake technology, with demonstrated success in running and coordinating Big Data Technologies
  • Strong interpersonal communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Proven strong leadership skills
  • Experience with Spark or Databricks
  • Willingness to initially work remote and travel up to 25% when the environment allows
