John Deere is currently going through a Smart Industrial Redesign transformation.  To support our journey, it takes a unique skill set.  We recognize that may be available in the Chicagoland market.  As a Software Engineer, with the John Deere Global IT Enterprise, you will operate within the IT HR Corporate Functions Agile team and participate in all aspects of the team's work regarding software analysis, configuration, development and testing.

  • Participate in discussions with the Scrum and Product teams to develop technical solutions to satisfy business requirements related corporate functions such as Legal, EH&S, and Learning Management System
  • Develop, code, configure, and test SaaS system extensions as well as internally developed programs and integrations
  • Evaluate and implement solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance of software applications
  • Analyze assignments, and determine software specifications that must be fulfilled to achieve objectives
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders and team members to ensure that features meet business needs
  • Follow industry-standard agile software design methodology for development and documentation
  • Maintain and optimize our team’s AWS and on premise computing environment, and work with internal stakeholders for security and Cloud innovation
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience in the design, development, testing and integration of highly complex software solutions
  • Understanding of application development, databases, data management and infrastructure capabilities
  • Skilled in either AWS or Azure
  • Ability to apply engineering principles and concepts for designs
  • Experience with integration technologies such as Java or Python, REST APIs, shell scripts, ETL tools
  • Strong Interpersonal communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Proven experience as working in a team environment
  • Experience collaborating with multiple business stakeholders to provide information technology solution
  • Willingness to initially work remote and travel up to 25% when the environment allows

  • Understanding of design patterns and loosely coupled architectures
  • Experience configuring, and implementing system execution/quality monitoring tools
  • Experience with software test automation (TDD and Unit Testing Frameworks)
  • 1+ years’ experience with DevOps principles and lean development (Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery)
  • 2+ years’ experience implementing major software programs leveraging change management
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience in a related career field
