Your Responsibilities

 

As a Manufacturing Engineer for John Deere Davenport Works, a premiere factory for the Construction and Forestry Division, you will engage with our workforce to overcome operational difficulties for assembly, work with a cross functional team to execute continuous improvement projects and contribute to the overall One Davenport team. You will join a dynamic team and operate in a challenging production environment where valuing others, diversity and inclusion are critical to the success of our team and business. In addition, you will:

 

  • Participate in startup meetings and production meetings
  • Identify opportunities and implement continuous improvement projects in support of departmental goals for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Efficiency
  • Train new operators to ensure that they are successful in their manufacturing method to achieve our Safety, Quality, Delivery and Efficiency goals.  
  • Support, communicate and implement Engineering changes 
  • Define and update work standards, routings, layouts and work instructions
  • Design tools and fixtures and support the maintenance of production tooling & fixtures.
  • Assist in the investigation and resolution of warranty and customer field issues
  • Support and lead cross functional teams
  • Lead and participate in proactive Quality and Manufacturing planning (FMEAs, PVAs, DPARs, Virtual Builds etc.)
  • Design and implement manufacturing process monitoring and risk mitigation solutions
  • Communicate with the Natural Work Group and leadership to understand problems, propose and execute solutions, and provide updates
  • Leverage and implement technology to improve our access to and utilization of data to drive business improvement 
  • Drive lean manufacturing and waste elimination through established 5S policies and procedures
  • Foster a positive work environment through employee engagement activities, communications, and a strong say: do ratio
  • Act as an ambassador of John Deere and provide a positive brand experience when interacting with students and customers visiting the factory

Education

 

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Operations, Engineering, or Other
