Your Responsibilities


As a Order Fulfillment Process (OFP) Assembly Quality Engineer for John Deere Davenport Works in Davenport, IA you will provide Quality Engineering (QE) support and troubleshooting for current operations in the Articulated Dump Truck business. You will engage with our workforce to overcome operational difficulties (assembly or fabrication), work with a cross- functional team to execute continuous improvement projects and contribute to the overall One Davenport team. You will join a dynamic team and operate in a challenging production environment where valuing others, diversity and inclusion are critical to the success of our team and business. In addition, you will:


  • Lead and participate in proactive Quality and Manufacturing planning (FMEAs, PVAs, DPARs, Virtual Builds, etc.)
  • Participate on cross- functional teams of salary and wage personnel
  • Coordinate rework with the fabrication department, paint department and with suppliers
  • Foster a positive work environment through employee engagement activities, communications and a strong say:do ratio
  • Participate in startup meetings and production meetings
  • Daily presence on shop floor providing support by troubleshooting and making improvements
  • Assist in the investigation and resolution of warranty and customer field issues
  • Support non- conforming material processes (SAP and NCCA)
  • Train new operators to ensure that they are successful in their manufacturing method to achieve our quality goals

  • Good communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with both salaried and wage personnel in a team environment to navigate challenging situations
  • Self- starter who asks for and offers help when needed, and meets challenges with resourcefulness and enthusiasm
  • Original thinking and an ability to identify problems and generate creative solutions 
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and working in a production environment
  • Ability to effectively influence others, without authority 
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends, if needed

What Makes You Stand Out


  • Demonstrated formal or informal leadership skills 
  • Experience learning and applying technology, systems, data mining and analysis tools to drive business improvements 
  • Experience successfully navigating ambiguous situations 
  • Knowledge of drawing and schematic interpretation, product models, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Familiarity with assembly tooling and processes
  • Experience using assembly systems (eg. MPPlanner, JDAAT, Creo, Power BI)



Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering related field or applicable experience
