Your Responsibilities


As a Product Engineer you will support existing Production and Utility class Four Wheel Drive (4WD) Loaders in the John Deere Dubuque Works Construction & Forestry Division. This position is physically located at the John Deere Davenport Works in Davenport, Iowa. You will….


  • Investigate, develop, and implement solutions to meet our Distinctive Product Quality (DPQ) and cost reduction goals by preparing engineering design changes including managing bill of materials, models and drawings which enhance the value of the 4WD loader to our customers and to John Deere.
  • Provide engineering support to the 4WD Loader assembly lines and component fabrication.
  • Provide engineering support to DTAC (Dealer Technical Assistance Center) to quickly resolve customer issues. 
  • Effectively collaborate and communicate with the appropriate functional team members from quality, manufacturing, supply management and product support, as well as product development engineers, PV&V engineers, marketing, suppliers, customers, and leadership

What Skills You Need


  • Engineering experience obtained through projects, internships or practical work experience
  • Experience applying basic root cause analysis techniques
  • Ability to demonstrate troubleshooting capabilities
  • Experience with 3D modeling software
  • Ability to identify and implement creative and efficient solutions to technical problems
  • Ability to apply engineering principles to machine design
  • Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills while participating in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage several projects simultaneously

What Makes You Stand Out


  • 1 or more years professional work experience in Product Engineering
  • Experience with John Deere business processes (i.e., JDLink, PDMLink, SAP, etc.)
  • Experience working with customers and end users.
  • Experience working with the cross functional teams
  • Experience with Construction or Off Highway equipment including 4WD loaders
  • Experience with Engineering Analysis tools
  • Experience in product and component qualification testing
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills (verbal & written)



Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:


  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Engineering degree or equivalent years of related work experience
