Your Responsibilities


As a Communications Specialist for John Deere located in East Moline, IL, you will use various communication media to share business-related information with employees throughout the Business Unit and work to ensure that employees are aware of, understand, and know how they can impact the goals and objectives of their Business Unit.   In addition, you will:

  • Have the ability to transform communications into digital formats to reach virtual audiences and technology trends.
  • Develop and produce short videos for internal employee audience 
  • Research, write and edit communication materials for use in various media to support the overall communication strategies of the Business Unit.  
  • Plan, edit, and manage publications or other communication products at the Business Unit or Division level.  
  • Provide communications support to departments, groups, and managers to assist in identifying communication needs and messages, and to develop appropriate communication plans that support the Enterprise, Business Unit, and Department objectives.

What Skills You Need

  • Experience with digital technology and editing software packages (e.g. Avid Media Composer, Lightworks, Premiere, After Effects, and Final Cut) 
  • Experience manipulating and editing film pieces in a way that is invisible to the audience 
  • Experience assembling recorded footage into a finished project that matches the vision and is suitable for broadcasting 
  • Knowledge of layout/design for both print publications and online  
  • Understanding of photography and photo editing  
  • Knowledge of the communication planning process and measurement techniques  
  • Understanding of communication theories, especially employee/internal communications
  • Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office plus intranet and internet functions 

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience with photo and video editing software 
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to find stories and turn them into short articles  


Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Graphic Design, Digitial Media, or a Business-related discipline
