 This position is open to 100% remote work year-round with occasional onsite visits determined by Manager at either the John Deere facility in Des Moines, Iowa, or Moline, Illinois.

 

The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.

Your Responsibilities

 

  • Support efforts to develop new tool to better document, display, and use our process documents (i.e. a better way to write our work instructions).
  • Support efforts to remove waste and inefficiencies in our manufacturing processes.
  • Lead cross functional team discussions to understand current state, improvement opportunities, and document future state maps.
  • Input data into new tool.
  • Conduct user trials and feedback sessions to customize and improve the new tool.

What Skills You Need

  

 

  • Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in IT, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering; others may apply
  • Must be registered as a full-time student at an accredited university 
  • Graduation date of 2024 or later 
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
  • Available to work 16-20 hours/weekly during the academic year
  • Available to work 40 hours/weekly during the summer semester   
  • Able to work on and complete assignments remotely during school year and summer year-round
  • Must be able to commute to the work location in Des Moines IA or Moline IL such as 4-6 times annually per Manager discretion

  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, Visual Basic, SQL
  • Experience with creating and managing databases
  • Mobile app development experience
  • Experience working in teams and leading group discussions
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with John Deere equipment or farming
  • Good interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
