Your Responsibilities

 

As an OFP Lead Assembly Manufacturing Engineer for John Deere Harvester Works located in East Moline, IL, you will mentor Engineers, Assemblers and suppliers in support of the Front End Equipment (FEE) Business Unit. In addition, you will:

 

  • Lead the development of capital expenditure justifications by developing accurate cost estimates for equipment, tooling, facilities and labor
  • Train, develop and guide Engineers who directly support assembly operations
  • Provide project management leadership to capital, expansion and improvement projects
  • Lead team studies related to capacity, productivity and efficiency
  • Lead team(s) to address quality issues by utilizing root cause analysis and mistake proofing by gathering and analyzing data; work with design, tooling, advanced technologies, maintenance and other functional areas to resolve issues
  • Establish routings, Sequence of Events (SOE), line balances, layouts, tooling, assembly costs, Operator Method Sheets (OMS) and control plans for revisions to current operations
  • Work with SAP, MPPlanner and JDAAT (MES) to perform engineering functions

What Skills You Need

 

  • Experience with shop floor documentation (SOE, Labor Standards, OMS) and knowledge of Dynamic Line Balancing Tools (DLBT)
  • Knowledge of assembly processes, quality, tooling and safety
  • Knowledge of capital budgeting and equipment justification
  • Good communication skills and the demonstrated ability to work effectively with salaried and wage personnel in a team environment
  • Experience in project management and business planning for small strategic projects or large tactical projects
  • Self- motivator with the ability to execute a variety of tasks with little supervision
  • Experience with line design, material presentation, cycles of imbalance and visual management tools such as simulations and 3D factory
  • Experience teaching and mentoring less- experienced Engineers in all facets of the role

What Makes You Stand Out

 

  • Experience with MPPlanner for SOE and OMS development
  • Demonstrated experience with DLBT
  • Experience working with incentive pay systems, especially gainsharing programs such as CIPP (Continuous Improvement Pay Plan)
  • Experience working in a union environment
  • Experience with JDAAT or MES systems
  • Experience with torque tooling
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Creo View software

Education

 

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline
