Your Responsibilities

As an Embedded Software Engineer at the Global Crop Harvesting Product Design Center located in East Moline, IL, you will be part of a 4-8 person team developing embedded software to control combine harvesting vehicles. You will be performing software development, testing, and integration to deliver customer facing features.

Common tasks include:

  • Embedded software and user interface development in Simulink, C, C++, and Qt
  • Embedded systems engineering tasks, including: requirements analysis, concept development, software architecture, and design reviews
  • Unit and integration testing in a virtual environment, as well as on-vehicle testing in the lab and/or field
  • Analysis and resolution for issues found during lab and field testing

What Skills You Need

  • Exposure to software development through education, training, or projects
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Strong, demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 15% (both domestic and internationally.)

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience (or training) in embedded software development with one or more of the following: C/C++ programming language, Qt, Matlab/Simulink tool chain.
  • Experience with software simulation and modeling tools, including: MATLAB, Simulink, and Real-Time workshop
  • Technical experience relating to design and diagnostics of electro-hydraulic systems
  • Experience with CAN communications protocol and the J1939 standard
  • Experience with AUTOSAR or John Deere Operating Systems

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or Systems Engineering
