Your Responsibilities


As a Software Design Engineer for Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG)- Electronic Solutions located in Fargo, ND, you will…


  • Implement software using proven programming techniques; gather and format requirements directly from customers, create and review innovative software designs, perform analysis and make recommendations and design decisions
  • Perform detailed unit, integration and systems verification and validation using software tools including emulators, debuggers, hardware in the loop and simulations
  • Review documentation produced during the Product Development Lifecycle that is generated by other engineering groups and verify documentation is sufficient for product design; generate support documentation, as needed
  • Collaborate with other project team members to ensure the final product has compatible hardware and software that performs as specified in the product specifications

What Skills You Need


  • Understanding of embedded software development
  • Understanding of C and other programming languages
  • Understanding of microcontroller operation and memory organization
  • Understanding of compilers, linkers and locators
  • Understanding of development and debugging tools (e.g. source level debuggers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multi-meters, etc.)
  • Understanding of microcontroller peripherals and systems (e.g. PWM outputs, boot loaders, A/D converters, watchdog timers, interrupt and trap functions, serial and parallel interfaces, etc.)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills (English)

What Makes You Stand Out


  • Product development experience
  • Understanding of Real- Time Operating System concepts, task schedulers and application development
  • Understanding of simulation and modeling tools (e.g. MATLAB, Simulink) 
  • Understanding of communication networks (e.g. CAN, Ethernet, LIN) 
  • Understanding of communication protocols (e.g. J1939, ISO11783, UDS, TCP/IP)
  • Understanding of other programming languages (Python, C#, etc.)



Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent discipline
