Your Responsibilities


As a Staff Electronic Design Engineer for John Deere's Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG) located in Fargo, ND, you will…


  • Lead complex engine controller development in all phases of the product lifecycle using a variety of tools for design, simulation and testing
  • Collaborate with John Deere ISG- ES and Power Systems Engine Engineering groups to define and capture customer needs, define product requirements and develop electronic hardware solutions
  • Provide on- site work direction of the Next Generation Controller (NGC) hardware engineers, part- time students and interns
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to NGC engineers; this position may also offer technical guidance/consultation as needed to John Deere Power Solutions (JDPS), vehicle partners and external suppliers

What Skills You Need


  • 10 or more years of experience in electronics hardware design, including circuit design, schematics, PCB layout, FMEA, product specification, modeling and simulation, etc.
  • 8 or more years of experience making sound decisions and communicating effectively within a cross- functional organization
  • 7 or more years performing complex engineering work requiring application of standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out engineering tasks
  • 5 or more years of experience in providing technical guidance to other engineers
  • 5 or more years of experience developing and/or executing test or analysis plans for product verification and validation
  • 5 or more years of experience managing product development projects, including planning and prioritizing of development activities and providing direction to others
  • Ability to make decisions and communicate effectively within a global, cross- functional organization
  • Ability to recognize and seize opportunities for new and innovative solutions

What Makes You Stand Out


  • Experience supervising others, providing work direction and assessing performance
  • Experience with electronic control systems hardware design in diesel engine technology
  • Experience in integration of electronics (sensors, actuators and controllers) in off- road applications
  • Experience developing electronic hardware requirements
  • Knowledge of PCB and semiconductor component fabrication methods and materials
  • Understanding of Agile- based development methodology and tools
  • Experience with electro- magnetic interference (EMI) principles and design considerations/integration
  • Experience with microcontrollers
  • Systems engineering experience
  • FMEA experience



Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline
