Title: Aftertreatment CFD Analyst 

Primary Location: Mexico (MX)  - Nuevo León JD Shared Svcs-Monterrey

Main responsibilities

This position will lead execution of CFD projects to virtually verify aftertreatment system designs and support efforts to meet stated performance & emission criteria. This position will maintain seamless collaboration with the Virtual Systems Analysis Team, Analysis & Simulation teams, Product Design and Product Validation teams. This position will develop detailed execution plans aligned with the program priorities and will lead efforts to meet aftertreatment design development requirements through simulations. This position will also include technical leadership responsibility to develop & manage roadmap of the Aftertreatment CFD simulation capability enhancement in advance areas such as urea deposit predictions and cycle time reduction for the simulation processes by developing efficient workflows and automations.

  • Independently handles complex CFD problems related to aftertreatment (DOC, DPF, SCR, AOC)
  • Provides technical leadership, project management and mentoring support to lesser experienced analysts working in the same domain
  • Works with global cross-functional teams to understand their priorities and develops comprehensive plans and roadmaps to enhance simulation capabilities
  • Improves test measurement vs. CFD prediction correlation.

What skills you need

  • Expert level experience in performing CFD simulations of Aftertreatment Systems
  • Experience with multiphase & multispecies flow simulations involving injector spray, wall film, evaporation, and chemical reactions
  • Develops and/or executes test or analysis plan for product verification and validation
  • Expert level understanding of Aftertreatment system physics and performance criteria. Experience in relating test measurements in terms of CFD predicted attributes
  • Tool Skills : AVL Fire (Desired) or knowledge of equivalent tools like Fluent, Converge, Star CCM+
  • Produces and/or evaluates possible design solutions to improve cost, quality and performance based on specialized knowledge of engineering applications. This may include possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel. Maintains seamless collaboration with cross functional teams (located at different geographical locations) to develop optimized design solutions.
  • Leads in resolution of product-line based complex technical issues whether within the company or with outside suppliers
  • Compiles and furnishes necessary information (engineering decisions and reports of pertinent design analyses data) to document the design solution
  • Schedules and leads analysis reviews to share results with the product design and test engineers. Offers insights to solve complex product problems

What makes you stand out

  • 07 to 10 years of dedicated experience in performing Aftertreatment CFD Simulations
  • Experience in urea deposit modelling and prediction
  • Experience in performing 3D-1D coupled simulations
  • Experience with CFD process automations
  • Familiarity with Aftertreatment test techniques and methods
  • Experience in developing new simulation capabilities by collaborating with internal or external experts & consultants
  • Experience in providing technical leadership & mentoring support to a team of 2 to 3 team members
  • Experience in working with global teams


Masters or PhD in Thermal / Fluid science or Engineering

Bachelors in Mechanical / Automobile / Chemical Science or Engineering
