Title: Cost Management Specialist 
Primary Location: Mexico (MX) - Nuevo León JD Shared Svcs-Monterrey 
Function: Supply Management / Logistics

Main Responsibilities

Leads or participates in the development and maintenance of cost management methodologies and tools, along with the implementation of these methodologies and tools, for integration and use in the Enterprise Product Delivery Processes (EPDP) and the Enterprise Order Fulfillment Process (EOFP) to assist in acquiring the most cost effective products from our supply base. Plays a key supporting role to the Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Integration teams by providing negotiating tools and financial analyses.

What Skills You Need

  • Provides industry/market analysis for commodities to assist the sourcing teams in structuring and negotiating long-term agreements and in understanding the cost drivers that affect the volatility or stability of how commodities are priced.
  • Assists in supplier negotiations by using fact-based information based on analysis of quotes, use of cost models, and other appropriate analyses, i.e. considering cost drivers such as material indices, currencies.
  • Leads and participates in the development of cost management methodologies and tools across the enterprise; coordinates and works with cross-functional teams from other divisions and units.
  • Supports Division Strategic Sourcing or Unit Supply Management in all aspects of cost-reduction activity, utilizing cost management techniques and tools to give accurate and timely cost evaluations of design cost and supplier pricing in the Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP) and Enterprise Order Fulfillment Process (EOFP) and facilitating/supporting the Value Improvement (VI) and John Deere Crop (JDCROP) processes.
  • Provides work direction, guidance, and support for less experienced Cost Management (CM) Specialists in the use of CM methodologies and tools; serves as primary contact for certain enterprise or division-led initiatives.
  • Assesses training needs, develops training plans, and trains Division and Unit personnel in the use of cost management methodologies and tools; provides assistance and support to the students after training to allow students to speed their learning curve.
  • Works with Strategic Sourcing teams in leading development of cost management strategies for sourcing, negotiations and decision making.
  • Provides industry/market analysis for commodities to assist the sourcing teams in structuring and negotiating long-term agreements and in understanding the cost drivers that affect the volatility or stability of how commodities are priced.

Education

  • Degree in an Engineering/Technology discipline or equivalent experience. - University Degree (4 years or equivalent).
  • Degree in a Supply Management discipline or equivalent experience. - University Degree (4 years or equivalent).
