Major purpose:

As a Senior Power Electronics Design Engineer for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group located in Monterrey, NL, you will produce and/or evaluate design solutions for electronic assemblies to improve cost, quality and performance based on electronic design knowledge of engineering applications together with the involvement of manufacturing, mechanical, software and other functional engineers, supply management and supplier personnel.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Create, analyze, read, and understand technical requirements written by others to determine the best technical solution for complex problems or projects of difficult scope.                                                             
  • Compile and furnish necessary information (engineering decisions and reports of pertinent design analyses data) to document the design solution required for building of prototypes and adoption of the design with possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel.                                                              
  • Lead in resolution of product based difficult technical issues whether within the company or with outside suppliers.                                                               
  • Be recognized as technically proficient in the ISG –  controllers & electrification.

What Skills You Need:

  • Strong Experience in automotive circuit design and knowledge about PCB Layout development                                                              
  • Strong analytical skills and working experience on different analyses such as worst case, Monte Carlo, tolerance stack up, power dissipation, stress etc.                                                                
  • Knowledge of electrical, environmental and EMI/EMC automotive industry standards                                                                       
  • Exposure to electronics manufacturing and validation facilities, hands-on testing/ test set-up experience                                                                           
  • Experience with electronic design software for schematic capture and analysis                                                                    
  • System knowledge of hybrid and/or electric vehicles                                                                    
  • Experience with 3-phase motor control inverter design and verification                                                                     
  • Experience in power electronics design for DC-DC conversion                                                                   
  • Experience with microcontroller and FPGA based designs                                                                          
  • Experience in leading the electronic design function within a larger project team                                                                  
  • Strong communication and preference for working in teams                                                                     
  • Proactive and results-oriented  

What Makes You Stand Out:

  • 7 years of Electronic Design Experience                                                              
  • Previous Role using electronic circuit desing and simulation tools                                                                           
  • Experience in leading projects from product design from concept to production                                                                      
  • Experience with designing to harsh environmental specifications                                                             
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics design capture for schematics, Mathcad for design analysis, Pspice/LTspice for simulations.
  • MSc./PhD in relevant area to the job   

Education (or equivalent experience):

  • Degree in an Engineering (electrical, power systems, etc.) / Technology discipline or equivalent experience.
