The European Technology Innovation Center (ETIC) of John Deere is part of a global R&D network in Kaiserslautern. Its focus is on the research on and development of future trends and technologies in the area of mobile agricultural and construction machines in close collaboration with diverse research institutes

 

 

The Guidance & Automation team of the Intelligent Solutions Group is offering a

 

Internship / Thesis Controls system design (m/f/d)

 

 

 

Your Responsibilities: 

  • Problem analysis and definition
  • Customer interviews & Concept development
  • Ideation, comparison and rating of different solution concepts
  • Implementation of preferred concept in MATLAB/ Simulink
  • Integration of concept in closed loop vehicle simulation with an international team
  • Verification of concept using the vehicle simulation
  • Implementation of concept in production controller
  • Validation of solutions on a Self-Propelled Forage Harvester

 

 

What Skills You Need: 

  • Student of “Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Vehicle Engineering” or similar disciplines
  • Experience with system dynamics
  • Theoretical knowledge of basic control theory
  • Experience with MATLAB / Simulink or comparable tools
  • Hands-on experience with discrete control system design, implementation, tuning is beneficial
  • Agricultural background / experience is beneficial
  • Ability to work independently and to understand new subject matter
  • Good technical understanding and English language skills
  • Good communication skills and willingness to work in a team
