 The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.

 

Your Responsibilities

 

  • Production employee startup meeting talk sheet and unit news: Conduct interviews, take pictures and write stories for publication in newsletters for our production and salaried employees in Milan, Illinois.
  • Video: Assist with video shoot and post-production using company-approved editing software.
  • Digital signs: Monitor and update digital signage deck, including creating new slides on a regular basis and working with departments to update regular features, such as the safety report and employee milestones.
  • Facility communications: Work with departments throughout warehouse on topics that need to be communicated to employees using various tools, such as email, digital signs, posters, and Everbridge.
  • Tours: Assist with aspects of the NA-PDC tour program and assisting with communications and special events.
  • Communication meetings: Attend meetings with the Continuous Improvement, safety, environmental teams and other departments as needed to stay informed on goings-on at the warehouse and support their communications priorities.
  • Bulletin Boards: Update the bulletin boards at NA-PDC entrances on a weekly basis or as needed. This includes creating and printing posters to communicate unit information about events, safety, CI, and milestones.
  • Photography: Take photos at various warehouse events for use in presentations, John Deere Online news site, promotional materials, etc.
  • Presentations: Provide support in laying out and sourcing photos and information for presentations as needed.
  • Recognition: Work with leaders on projects that highlight exceptional work by employees.
  • Other: Assists with other communication activities as needed.

 

What Skills You Need

 

  • Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing or Graphic Design; others may apply
  • Must be registered as a full-time student at a local accredited university
  • Graduation date of May 2023 or later
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
  • Available to work 12-20 hours weekly during the academic year
  • Available to work 20-40 hours weekly during the summer semester
  • Must be able to work onsite with some work remote available

  • General understanding of communications planning processes and measurement techniques
  • General understanding of communication theories especially employee/internal communications
  • Ability to use standard desktop applications such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, plus internet and intranet functions
  • Writing, presentation, and video skills
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good interpersonal and team communication skills
  • Skill in planning, organizing and deploying projects
  • Graphic design skills a plus
