Your Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Engineer for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group located in Milan, IL, You will provide technical leadership to an Agile (scrum) team working on Java, Scala, Akka, NodeJS, Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies and Big Data concepts. You will participate in all aspects of the team's work, including development, design, testing, and analysis. That means you will:
- Perform hands-on code development and delivery and ensure that coding standards, patterns and approaches are appropriate, consistent and of high quality.
- Provide guidance to other team members of design solutions or coding practices within the team.
- Be considered an expert within the team on tools and technology in use.
- Be expected to work with members of the team by pairing, coaching and review.
- Interface regularly with our customers to ensure you are producing technical solutions that meet their needs
What Skills You Need
- 6 or more years of experience in designing and developing complex Java applications
- 3 or more years of experience in building low-latency & high volume, distributed, scalable and reliable backend systems
- 3 or more years of experience in providing technical leadership to mid-size teams
- 3 or more years of experience working on projects/products being developed on AWS
- 3 or more years of experience in Akka framework & Scala
- 3 or more years of experience in TDD, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery and Agile methodologies
- 3 or more years of experience in contributing in architecture and design of new and current systems
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, comprehension, and presentation)
What Makes You Stand Out
- AWS certified Architect or 3 or more years of equivalent AWS experience
- Understanding of different components of JDLink, Operation Center & precision Ag technologies
- Functional programming experience (Scala/Haskell etc.)
- 3 or more years working in Enterprise scale data processing pipelines, building data products and APIs
- Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills
- Experience in roles that required strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with a geographically distributed team
- Experience in supporting applications on 24x7 schedule
- Experience with NodeJS
Education
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering related discipline
