 This position is eligible for a partial telework arrangement at the present time.  The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.

 

 

This position may be located in Moline, IL or Sunnyvale, CA per the hiring manager's discretion. This may be dependent on the successful candidate's background, experience, and proficiency.

 

Your Responsibilities

 

As a Green Energy and Environmental Science Business Lead for John Deere Small Ag and Turf located in Moline, IL or Sunnyvale, CA your responsibility will be:

 

  • To Develop and implement the strategy for monetizing energy storage, Energy Carbon Credits and Green energy in the environment of electric machinery on farms.
  • Partner with the Utility companies first in CA but then expanding around the globe as our products move to different regions with different electrical grids.  
  • Design the carbon credit measurement and documentation strategy, work with LCFS Pathway consultants, verification companies and ultimately brokerage companies to monetize the credits and/or offsets. 

Additionally, you will....

 

  • Develop the strategy to provide green energy to our electric machines in the field and do so profitably for both Deere and our Customer.  
  • This role will be highly customer facing and be responsible for engaging our customers and dealers to develop the right solutions.  This role will be supported by a technical team and will largely be working with partners and consultants around the world to establish the appropriate relationships to delight our user every step of the way.

What Skills You Need

 

  • 10 or more years within Energy and Carbon industry
  • 5 or more years in the California Energy, Carbon, and Green Energy markets, Agricultural Carbon Markets
  • Be fluent in and actively engaged with California’s Energy and Carbon programs such as CARB (California Air Resources Board), FARMER (Funding Agricultural Replacement Measures for Emission Reductions), LCFS (low-carbon fuel standard), SGIP (self-generated incentive program), and Energy Resilience program
  • Provide a complete understanding of the Energy sector in California as well as a deep understanding of VPPAs, PPAs, and other green energy sources
  • Develop the strategy and implement agreements to source green energy in CA, USA, EU, Brazil, Australia, etc.
  • Give direction to a technical community to drive the development of sensors, software, UX/UI, Documentation, etc.
  • Familiar and capable of driving multiple consultants, suppliers, and partners at a global scale
  • Experienced people leader both direct and indirect
  • An influencer and capable of building and maintaining healthy relationships within the company as well as outside the company to drive programs forward

What Makes You Stand Out

 

      • Global compliance and/or voluntary Carbon Credit market experience
      • Agriculture experience
      • MBA or high-level business degree preferred

Education

 

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

 

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Environment Science, or Technology
