Your Responsibilities

As a Principal Software Engineer for John Deere located in Moline, IL, you will work with multiple product teams and lead design by providing technical leadership across the Proactive Services product family; in addition to planning, execution, coding and testing – to deliver functionality of a complicated nature on the complete product or products you support. This role designs significantly more complex parts of a system independently. In addition, you will:

  • Be recognized as a technical leader in the solution of complex problems; develop creative functionality and provide solutions to complex problems by identifying and organizing necessary resources
  • Lead critical modernization and innovation initiatives by driving system engineering across multiple product teams within Proactive Services as well as those that integrate to improve the overall UX of our products end to end
  • Serve as an advocate for the architecture and security discipline, policies, and standards across multiple product teams
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to others within the technical discipline

What Skills You Need

  • Proven experience in the design, development, testing (TDD) and integration of high complexity software solutions leveraging change management (12+ years)
  • Proven experience designing and delivering complex and scalable distributed software systems (12+ years)
  • Experience in full-stack development and designing loosely coupled API based systems (8+ years)
  • Experience in embedded software engineering and design(5+ years)
  • Proven experience as a technical leader in an Agile/Scrum team environment (7+ years)
  • Proven deep experience leveraging DevSecOps and lean development principles such as Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (7+ years)
  • Deep experience in cloud development with the AWS platform (5+ years)

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science or Engineering
