Title: Product Owner, Mainframe Server & Storage - 71592 


Product Owner responsible for the Mainframe Storage and Database products in the Mainframe Services product family. 


  • Maintains and refines product backlog.
  • Ensures features definition, acceptance criteria, and stories that clearly communicate customer/stakeholder needs to the team; works with team to clarify as necessary.
  • Understands and supports inter-team dependencies and impediments and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Accountable for prioritizing product backlog and communication strategy. Monitors and communicates the key success metrics of the product.
  • Ensures an exceptional product experience collecting inputs from customers, market research.
  • Participates in team events (e.g., daily stand-up, sprint planning, sprint review, sprint demos).


  • Understands key business objectives and strategy of the digital product(s) utilizing mainframe and the Mainframe Product family.
  • Transforms the strategic vision of the Mainframe product family into deliverable iterations for the Mainframe Storage and Database products.
  • Makes final decisions on product roadmap in alignment with Digital Product Manager’s strategic vision for the Mainframe Compute product.
  • Responsible for improving quality, customer satisfaction and performance metrics and managing products' product goals.
  • Drive strategic OKRs, roadmaps and measurable value creation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with Mainframe Compute or Mainframe storage or Mainframe database products/solutions - 2+ years
  • Experience with mainframe resource planning- 2+ years
  • Strong understanding of technical terms, processes, and practices of products within scope
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies/tools
  • Ability to develop productive working relationships with both technical and non-technical partners. Culture of influencing without authority
  • Ability to use analysis to prioritize business value
  • Experience with software engineering, especially developing with infrastructure as code
  • Knowledge of cloud-based databases.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with I&O Platform Services
  • Experience with cloud-based databases and environments such as Progress on AWS
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools
  • Demonstrates excellent collaboration and communication skills across a broad set of users or stakeholders
  • Previous experience as a product owner or certification as such
  • Product or service development process/management experience.


  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience in a related career field
