Your Responsibilities


As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer for John Deere. You will engage with teams across our enterprise to bring focus and knowledge on reliability, performance & stability, operational readiness, observability, and technical practices. This Lead team member will be pairing with Application Development teams to accomplish this. Our focus will start with measuring what the customer finds value in, and from there we will drive to make that a better experience. 


This position is eligible for remote work at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.

What Skills You Need



  •  Identify technical and process gaps to implement improvements that increase operational reliability. 
  •  Increase operational efficiency and promote stability through automation.  
  •  Problem Management: Help teams perform post-incident reviews to eliminate the possibility of reoccurrence. 

Performance & Stability:  

  • Works with other members of their assigned Product to ensure that the in-scope applications/platforms are meeting performance and stability requirements through helping the team implement load tests, tracing, monitoring, etc. 

Operational Readiness:  

  •  Ensures that applications/platforms in the Product are operationally ready for  Production.  
  • Provides guidance to Product teams on DevSecOps. 


  • Develop Dashboards for alerting and monitoring to ensure application systems service reliability and availability. 
  • Monitoring and Metrics: Works with App Dev teams to ensure that applications/platforms have the appropriate monitoring and metrics in place to appropriately measure performance and stability. 


  • Write quality code using SOLID principles in Test Driven Development with languages such as, Javascript Java, Ruby, Go, Python, C# and Bash.

  • An DevOps/Engineering Technical Practices Focus 
  • Write quality code using SOLID principles in Test Driven Development with languages such as Java, Ruby, Go, Python, and Bash. 
  • Have functional working knowledge of Linux systems as we engage with different teams. 
  • A foundational knowledge of CI/CD to use in working with the teams we engage with. 
  • Be able to apply infrastructure as code as a practice in everything we work with. 
  • Provide functional knowledge of how/when to use cloud to solve different problems related to reliability. 



Ideally, you will have a degree in Information Technology or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • 8+ years of DevOps Practices/XP Experience
  • 10+ years of Software Development Experience
  • 5+ Operations Experience
