What You'll Be Doing

 

John Deere is currently seeking a Software Engineer to join our Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG) at our world headquarters in Moline, IL.

As Software Engineer, Emerging Manufacturing Technologies, you will trailblaze cutting edge manufacturing software and pass it long to other groups of SWE’s for mass implementation. You will build a reputation of being a driven innovator who will play an integral role in advancing our manufacturing tech stack. You will also be responsible for enabling disruptive technologies aimed to improve Deere's manufacturing facilities and give our factories a competitive edge.

Additionally, you will:

  • Develop and pilot new technologies that give our factories a competitive edge (5G, Data Analytics, IoT, AR/VR/XR)
  • Manage and run Proof of Concepts (POC) to validate technologies
  • Developing and supporting high-quality software solutions in big data processing pipelines to drive analytics and automation to autonomy
  • Collaborate with other software engineers to facilitate integrations

What Skills You Need

 

  • 3+ years of software engineering experience utilizing technology such as Python, Java, C#, or Scala
  • Previous experience with Test driven development (TDD)
  • Familiarity with Cloud native frameworks
  • Experience utilizing Containers/Kubernetes
  • Highly collaborative mindset and ability to influence without authority
  • Ability to support activities covering global time zones

 

What Makes You Stand Out

 

While we know that most engineers will not have experience in all of the below, we invite you to apply if you have worked with any of the following:

  • Experience with infrastructure management, Hybrid Cloud environments, and Agile Development practices
  • Networking skills (Wired, Wi-Fi, Cellular) and Edge device management
  • Understanding of Industry 4.0 capabilities and technologies
  • Manufacturing Experience (working understanding of typical factory processes - Assembly, Weld, Material Handling, Robotics, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Cybersecurity/Security by design principles
  • Previous IT/OT convergence experience
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • 1+ year of experience in cloud technologies (AWS/GCP/Azure)
  • Ability to process large volumes of data 

 

Education

 

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering or equivalent experience in related career field
  • Advanced degree preferred
