Overview & Responsibilities


As a Staff Software Engineer for Enterprise Data Lake located in Chicago or Moline, IL, you will be working on our Enterprise Data Lake, a cloud-native, modern, and scalable data platform designed to provide advanced analytics and data management capabilities to our users. As part of the Scrum team, your focus will be on delivering new capabilities and enhancements of high complexity to the platform to enable Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and Data Analysts to manage, process, model, and analyze data of any kind, shape, and size. You will be expected to code, test, and provide technical leadership in the design and implementation of the product.

Additionally, you will be.

  • Providing leadership in the definition of development standards and guidelines.
  • Lead discussions with the development team, Engineering Manager, and extended functional teams to develop technical solutions to satisfy business requirements
  • Provide Technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to team members within the product space

What Skills You Need

  • Proven experience in the design, development, testing, and integration of highly complex software solutions in Scala, Python, Node.js, React and building Restful APIs leveraging change management (7+ years across multiple of these)
  • Understanding of applications development lifecycle, database, data management and infrastructure capabilities, positioning and constraints (5+ years)
  • Experience with service-oriented and event-driven system architectures (5+ years)
  • Proven experience in an Agile/Scrum team environment (5+ years)
  • Proven deep experience leveraging DevSecOps and lean development principles such as Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (5+ years)
  • Deep experience in cloud development with platforms like AWS or Azure (4+ years)
  • Working understanding of full-stack design patterns and designing loosely coupled architectures (4+ years)
