Main Responsibilities

Provides a high level of technical expertise in a leadership role in Part Data Management (PDM) and Specifications and assures that PDM requirements are properly applied and maintained within the Unit. Conducts Functional Geometry Reviews and assists engineering in dimensioning and tolerancing their geometry/drawings. Maintains the documentation for the design release procedure and conducts technical training and development of unit personnel as required. May work with unit personnel and suppliers developing guidelines for the design, manufacture and inspection of parts and assemblies.

What Skills You Need

  • Conducts functional geometry reviews on parts and assemblies to ensure quality goals and functional requirements of models/drawings and specifications are met.
  • Provides team leadership in coordinating and performing Parts Data Management (PDM) and specification work throughout the unit to include training, resolving issues, diagnosing problems and recommending corrective actions.
  • Updates and maintains appropriate web pages to provide consistent geometry/drawing information for the user community. Provides training in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing as required.
  • Evaluates and recommends methods to improve service support from suppliers related to improving service parts and parts catalog delivery, engineering communications, field support, managing engineering record reciprocity and accuracy of supplier specification documents.
  • Provides coaching to other units in such matters as design control, procurement of service parts, engineering communication methods and systems dealing with suppliers.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of improved Part Data Management (PDM) and specification processes to include evaluating service parts proliferation, expedition of parts for new product introductions and discontinued products.
  • Coordinates the activities of Specification Analyst/Writers to include training, diagnosing issues and resolving problems.
  • Provides language translation and interpretation services as required.

What Makes You Stand Out

Skill in using computer aided design and/or engineering tools.
Skill in using company information systems and processes.
Knowledge in engineering principles, theory and practice as well as product knowledge.
Understanding of specification systems and decision release systems.
Knowledge of industry standards for dimension and tolerancing, weld symbols, etc.
Knowledge of Product Delivery Process programs.

Education

Bachelor´s degree related to field or equivalent experience. Engineering
