Title: Embedded Software Test Engineer - 86082

Your Position:

Major Purpose

Plans, coordinates, performs product design, testing and/or analysis work for a complete project of moderate scope or for a significant portion or a sub-system of a major and diverse project. Operates in a team environment, providing input to design solutions and participating in design reviews. May assign, coordinate and review portions of the work to support personnel. Decisions are made within established guidelines and may be reviewed by supervisors.

Major Duties

As a software test engineer for John Deere ISG-China located in Tianjin, you will be responsible for leading the efficient verification of embedded software on Agricultural vehicles. 

Analyze software requirements and plan, coordinate, and perform testing embedded software on Agricultural Vehicles to verify components, systems and software meet requirements.

  • Create the software verification test plan for the features delivered and defects fixed. Maintain test documentation in version control systems
  • Maintain and integrate applicable plant models into the Software-in-the Loop (SiL) test environment, test the systems software and continue improvement, tracking the bugs, analysis test result and submit the test report.
  • Communicate and gain alignment with other stakeholders on testing planning, needs, and status


Knowledge of J1939 CAN and use of CAN interface tools such as Vector tools

  • Good knowledge of electrical and electronic controls, components, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in execution of embedded software verification and validation in the SiL(Software-in-the Loop), HiL(Hardware-in-the Loop), and ViL(Vehicle-in-the -loop ) environments,.
  • Strong analytical skills to break down, solve, and convey complex features/issues to engineers in other disciplines.
  • Reviewing software requirements of embedded controllers, create lab verification and machine level validation test plan according to the enterprise test standard /guideline, execution, fulfill the test report.


  • Experience programming with C, C++, or C# or equivalent language
  • Experience with test automation tools and environments (HiL, SiL, ECU-Test)

Skills, Abilities, Knowledge

Skill in using computer aided design and/or engineering tools.
Skill in using company information systems and processes.
Knowledge in engineering principles, theory and practice as well as product knowledge.
Understanding of engineering principles as they relate to the company product
Fundamental understanding of machine forms relevant to the specific job assignment and Company division/unit. Knowledge/familiarity with machines manufactured by competitors.
Knowledge of the Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP), Enterprise Technology Development process (ETDP) and/or Enterprise Customer Acquisition Process (ECAP).
