Your Responsibilities

As the Senior GNSS Engineer on our Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG) localization team in Torrance, CA, or Urbandale, IA, you will be an integral member of our team of technical experts who is responsible for improving John Deere's Receiver Product Lines spanning across the globe.

Your role as Senior GNSS Engineer will be uniquely responsible for owning the performance of hardware and software systems that uphold the exceptional capabilities of our Receiver Product Lines, which use GNSS technology to improve the reliability, accuracy, and repeatability of precision agricultural machinery. 

You will also be involved with:

  • Providing technical oversight over projects using John Deere's autonomous technology
  • Setting requirements, objectives, and acceptance criteria that designers will utilize for developing our GNSS navigation products
  • Creating a program roadmap by generating GNSS capabilities and features
  • Delivering technical expertise on current and existing GNSS navigation products including architectures and interfaces to help address questions that arise during development
  • Troubleshooting field reports to understand root cause and help identify sustainable solutions
  • Leading and inspiring developers and other teammates to accomplish development goals
  • Assisting with preliminary design reviews for feature development
  • Collaborating with software system engineers coordinate feature development
  • Serving as your team’s subject matter expert regarding implementation questions and defect resolution

NOTE: This position is eligible for Flexible Working arrangements, which may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.

What Skills You Need


  • 3+ years of experience in GNSS Product Development or Testing
  • Expert knowledge in a specialized area of Engineering such as Design, Analysis, Test, and Evaluation
  • Understanding of machine forms relevant to the specific job assignment
  • Familiarity with machines manufactured by competitors
  • Knowledge of the Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP), Enterprise Technology Development process (ETDP), and the Enterprise Customer Acquisition Process (ECAP).
  • Track record performing software design reviews with software development teams

What Makes You Stand Out


  • Experience with GNSS systems and correction services including Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) and Precise Point Positioning (PPP)
  • Proficiency with machine control and precision agriculture applications
  • Expertise with Autonomous Vehicle Technologies



  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, OR equivalent amount of related work experience
