This position may be located in Urbandale, IA or Morton, IL per the hiring manager's discretion. This may be dependent on the successful candidate's background, experience, and proficiency.

 

This position is currently eligible for a telework and/or a compressed workweek arrangement. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes. This arrangement is subject to change.

 

Opportunity

 

As a Mobile Software Engineer, for the John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG-Urbandale), you will join a team of passionate developers and testers to design, develop, test, and integrate applications of high complexity. We operate in a collaborative, open environment focused on using Agile development techniques to autonomously deliver solutions quickly and effectively.

Responsibilities

 

  • Develop and support high-quality John Deere software solutions for user-facing mobile applications 
  • Engage in Agile software development activities, including sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives and hackathons 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, architects and supporting teams to define product requirements and system design 
  • Provide and discuss innovative technical solutions with designers and other stakeholders 
  • Advocate for a culture of software crafting best practices, including Test Automation, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Deployment 
  • Work with individuals on your team to create and follow established coding standards, workflow, or tool standards 
  • Pair program with junior and senior members of the team 
  • Incorporate customer feedback to ensure you are producing technical solutions that meet their needs

Required Qualifications

 

  • 2 or more years of experience in application development 
  • 2 or more years of experience in roles that required strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills 
  • 2 or more years of experience in roles that required strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • 2 or more years of experience in computer programming with at least one of the following: Kotlin, Java 
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering, Computer Science or Technology related discipline 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Native Android development 
  • Experience with RESTful web services, JSON 
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) 
  • Experience with TDD 
  • Experience with other languages, such as: Ruby, python, html 
  • Experience with continuous integration and build systems
