Title: Senior Test Engineer - 32984

Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Test Engineer for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG) you will gain a deep understanding of the software requirements as written by the product owners (PO's) and system engineers and become an expert on the “Software Under Test” (SUT) and any other related software.  You will meet with real customers and learn how they use the product so that test cases match real world use cases.    In addition you will:

  • Develop and generate the test plan (automated and/or manual) based on the requirements and other documents to understand and/or create a master regression test plan for the SUT.
  • Procure or create test data required for testing and set up the required test beds (hardware, software and network); document the test beds so that new testers can come up to speed quickly.
  • Create or assist in the development of automated test frameworks by coordinating across different engineering communities and support organizations.
  • Execute the Test Plan:  Test software releases by executing assigned tests and log defects so that they may communicated to the stakeholders; verify resolved defects; provide feedback to the team in order to improve the overall test process.
  • Gather and record adequate information to help developers reproduce defects in their development environments; report test results to the stakeholders.
  • Support production; support the NCCA root-cause analysis process by recreating issues, capturing log files, etc. and verify/validate that a potential NCCA fix will meet customers' expectations.

What Skills You Need

  • Four or more year’s software development and/or testing experience related to website application development.
  • Experience roles that required strong interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills. 
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Experienced with Agile software development practices.

What Makes You Stand Out

Other areas of experience or interest that will help us place you on the right team include:

  • Experience with an Enterprise Product Development Process (EPDP), similar to the one used at John Deere. 
  • Experience with customer requirements and developing and/or testing web applications with customer emphasis. 
  • Experience in roles that required a fundamental understanding of competitor grower website tools.


Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in the following:                                                             

  • Bachelors of Arts/Science in an Engineering/Technology, Science or Agricultural Sciences, discipline.
