Overview & Responsibilities


As a fully remote Senior Front-end Developer within our Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG), you will serve as the technical Front-end lead for a highly skilled software development team of 7 who will develop the core tech stack for the next generation of our precision ag web application offerings that will be utilized by all owners of John Deere Connected machines globally.


Your focus in this role will be to guide the development of a new monitoring map application for connected machines that will connect seamlessly with JDLink, our in-house telematics monitoring solution that enables our precision ag customers to monitor and manage their entire fleet in real-time without ever having to leave the office.


You will build a reputation of being a driven innovator who will play an integral role in advancing our precision ag tech stack. Additionally, the work you will accomplish as Senior Front-end Developer will directly impact the front lines of agricultural and sustainable innovation and will have a lasting impact on how farmers can better feed the world.


What You’ll Be Doing


  • Utilizing your Front-end expertise to develop, plan, code, configure and test new digital applications that allow our customers to monitor and report on their connected machines
  • Providing coaching and mentoring to colleagues regarding technical matters
  • Driving best-in-class engineering practices under the direction of the Engineering Manager
  • Evaluating and implementing enhancement design solutions to improve the cost, quality, and performance of software applications

What Skills You Need


  • Successful experience delivering large scale software applications as a Senior-level Engineer
  • 5+ years of web-client or server-side development experience utilizing Front-end languages, particularly JavaScript, React.js, and Node.js
  • History as a core contributor on a high performing Agile/Scrum team
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies including Test-Driven Development and Continuous Integration and Deployment
  • Expertise with build and test pipeline automation, Cloud technologies, and DevOps methodologies

What Makes You Stand Out


  • Experience leveraging AWS services, specifically ECS, EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, Lambda, S3, RDS, SQS, and SNS
  • Familiarity with developing RESTful web services



  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, MIS, or equivalent and related front-end software development experience
