Your Responsibilities

Are you a UX champion?  If you are someone who strives for high quality solutions while keeping the customer at the forefront of design decisions, this is the role for you.  Ultimately, you will make our products more user-friendly and intuitive for our customers.  As a User Experience (UX) Designer for the John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG-Urbandale), you will support projects of small to medium complexity through the development of User Interaction task flows, wireframes, prototypes through to final production for new products and the resolution of issues with current production products.  In addition, you will: 

  • Apply knowledge of usability, human factors, and UI processes to create intuitive user experiences and assist in pre and post-development usability testing 
  • Create and maintain project and overall system design artifacts  
  • Work with multiple groups across John Deere ISG as a team member or consultant including development teams to ensure that new features are implemented according to specification

What Skills You Need (Required skills/experiences)

  • Must have minimum one year experience with the following:
    • UX Design principles and thinking in terms of holistic design, applying strategic and business goals to design work, translating customer needs into design, focusing on usability and understanding aesthetic values
    • Creating high-quality user interfaces with design and rapid prototyping tools, such as: Sketch, Figma, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe XD, and InVision
    • Managing work effectively and transitioning easily between multiple projects and aesthetics

Communicating and presenting designs effectively for various audiences

What Makes You Stand Out (Desired skills/experiences)

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating ability to prototype and design elegant UX solutions to complex user problems 
  • One or more years of experience with Sketch and InVision 
  • One or more years of experience understanding and applying visual brand guidelines/style guides 
  • One or more years of experience influencing stakeholders to drive an intentional design philosophy 
  • Experience designing for construction or agriculture in-vehicle interfaces and/or customer-facing displays 
  • Experience with agile development methodologies 

Experience applying a broad range of User Research tools 

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

Bachelor's degree in a Human Factors, Interaction / Visual Design, Graphic Design, or related field discipline or equivalent experience
