Your Responsibilities

As a Validation Engineer for John Deere ISG located in Urbandale, IA, you will….

  • Understand scope and business objectives of development projects and translate them into validation test plans. Manage timelines, inventory, and customer/dealer feedback.
  • Work closely with product management, design, marketing, and engineering on overall product discovery.
  • Reach out and manage the relationship with customers, dealers and field staff to coordinate specific validation efforts
  • Become an expert in setting up, troubleshooting, and understanding customer pain points with new technology solutions

What Skills You Need (Required skills/experiences)

  • 1 or more years of experience in a professional engineering environment including internships and/or Co-ops. 
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites and interface with customers, dealers, and John Deere field staff on a regular basis
  • Professional or academic experience in embedded software. 
  • Experience effectively managing competing and shifting work priorities
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Experience with agriculture vehicles or crop production systems
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills

What Makes You Stand Out (Desired skills/experiences)

  • Experience with Software engineering, systems engineering, test engineering, or requirements engineering experience with documentation, execution, and reporting
  • Experience with scheduling and planning testing activities
  • Deep technical knowledge of precision ag applications
  • Experience in roles that required a working understanding of Agile development practices


Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering, Science or Technology related discipline
