Onsite/Remote: Partial Remote Position 

 

 

This position is eligible for a flexible or telework work schedule arrangement at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.

 

Your Responsibilities

 

As a Senior Product Safety Engineer, located at the Product Engineering Center (PEC) in Waterloo, IA you will lead platform implementation of product safety and fire prevention principles on Large Tractors.  In addition, you will:

 

  • Manage and support the Product Safety and Fire Prevention deliverables and requirements for new and current products
  • Plan and use a structured process to analayze product safety and fire prevention issues across product lines
  • Exchange information across divisions, educating unit personnel in product safety and fire prevention practices and experiences
  • Consult with engineering regarding design solutions to reduce product safety and fire risks
  • Provide periodic product safety and fire prevention training
  • Serve as a primary investigator of unit machine fires to determine area of origin and cause
  • Provide litigation investigation support as necessary for equipment incident claims
  • Assist in both oral and written discovery activities upon request of the Deere & Company law department

What Skills You Need

 

  • 4 or more years experience in one or more of the following: design engineering, test engineering, reliability engineering, quality engineering
  • 3 or more years experience working in cross-functional teams
  • Fundamental understanding of machine forms relevant to the specific job assignment and Company division/unit
  • Excellent communication, documentation and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to take initiative to build strong and productive relationships and communicate clearly to audiences of all levels.

 

What Makes You Stand Out

 

  • Knowledge of product safety standards, regulatory requirements and other inputs applicable to ag tractors.
  • Knowledge of fire investigation and prevention principles
  • Understanding of Functional Safety
  • Knowledge of Product delivery processes experience

 

Education

 

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

 

  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or Agricultural Engineering, Computer Science, OR equivalent related work experience
