Title: Staff System Engineer - 55254 

Your Responsibilities

As a Staff System Engineer, for the John Deere Enterprise (Waterloo, IA or Moline, IL location), you will provide electrical system technical leadership for operator station features and systems. This position collaborates in a team environment and is able to review product requirements and propose solutions that align with the operator station system and architecture needs. This position is also able to review proposed designs against the defined architecture, recognize gaps in the design, and collaborates with architects to propose solutions. In addition, you will:

  • Own and manage system electrical and diagnostic specific requirements for operator station systems.
  • Own and manage network requirements for operator station domain subnetworks as well as the interface between the operator station domain and the rest of the vehicle.
  • Own and manage system level re-use for the operator station, from system requirements to electrical components.
  • Expert user of critical worksite technologies and strategies. Applies technologies and architectures to operator station designs.
  • Analyze designs to ensure they meet electrical, functional and safety requirements for the various electrical systems
  • Apply defined reference architectures appropriately to operator station system and subsystem design.
  • Lead in the resolution of operator station based difficult technical issues whether within the company or with outside suppliers.
  • Provide technical support during system field-testing activities on an as needed basis
  • Works with electrical PV&V teams to develop system level verification plans.
  • Collaborate closely with operator station, electrical hardware, product subsystem, manufacturing, and software development teams to achieve these responsibilities.

What Skills You Need

  • Technical skill and knowledge in electronic systems engineering or electronic/technology/software architecture
  • Knowledge in systems engineering principles, theory and practice as well as product knowledge
  • Understanding of engineering principles as they relate to the company product
  • Ability and willingness to travel, up 50% (domestically)

Education (or equivalent work experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering, Science or Technology discipline
