Title: IT Solution Architect 
Primary Location: Mexico (MX) - Coahuila Motores JD-Torreon 
Function: Technology (CA)

Main Responsibilities

Recognized as a seasoned technology professional and expert who focuses on designing solutions that adhere to the strategic architecture and roadmap for the assigned products. The role collaborates with product teams to ensure that solutions built are effective. Advises product teams on complex design issues on products. The scope at this level maintains technology knowledge within a specific capability area and creates architectures and designs within the same area; Demonstrates awareness of enterprise capability and how it relates to Deere's platforms, strategy and solutions; Partners with the Product Owner and Engineering Manager to create awareness of issues and provides solutions; Participates in technology selections as part of the team.

  • Designs solutions across several Potential Shippable Increments (PSI), ensuring that business and architecture needs are met and applying reference architectures, standards and principles.
  • Involved in the implementation of solutions to ensure adherence to approved designs and the architecture, in accordance with the project needs and lifecycle that adhere to the strategic architecture and roadmap; ensures proper licensing and selection of technologies used in development teams.
  • Assists in vendor and partner selections to ensure solution fit for a given set of capabilities and compatibility with current tool sets.
  • Partners with development teams to ensure effective technology solutions are built; increase throughput and drive improvement through a "Hypothesize, Experiment, Measure, Learn" approach.
  • Facilitates the resolution of technical impediments raised by the team members; collaborate with and escalates issues to senior members, as needed.
  • Manages and / or runs Proof of Concepts (POC) to validate technologies for a given purpose during pre-sprint / plan activities; works closely with business partners to ensure capabilities required are being met.
  • Supports the team by answering general questions and providing guidance around the solution design; Serves as an advocate to team members on architectural design principles, and governance that are critical to execution.

What Skills You Need

  • Demonstrated use of architecture principles and practices when making decisions and creating/designing solutions and associated work products
  • Recent practitioner experience working with public cloud providers and technologies
  • Experience working with modern integration techniques, like API services, to seamless connect purchased and John Deere IT solutions
  • Displays critical thinking skills, conflict resolution skills and ability to model and communicate complex concepts in both written and verbal communication
  • Experience communicating up, down, and across the business and IT organization, including other business and technology leaders 

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Understanding of Quality and Engineering processes and practices including but not limited to Enterprise PDP (EPDP), Part Level PDP (PLPDP)
  • Experience leading vendor and partner selections and understands the complexities and compatibility constraints of introducing a new tool/partner to the current technology ecosystem
  • Experience serving as an advocate for the architecture practice that helps drive for solutions that are of high quality, secure and cost effective (SQDC)
  • Experience working in an Agile environment - understands PSI planning cycles and architecture's role delivering just-in-time/incremental intentional architecture
  • Thought of as a leader and expert in technology with demonstrated experience influencing without authority


Formal education (4 years) or equivalent experience in an information technology discipline
