Your Responsibilities

 

As the Lead Data Scientist within the eCommerce Data & Analytics team, located in Chicago, IL you will:

 

  • Lead and execute data science projects to drive eCommerce growth and an improved digital customer and dealer experience on shop.deere.com. 
  • You will be responsible for executing data science projects from conception to deployment, sharing clear project visions with cross-functional stakeholders. Once delivered, you will ensure long-term value and performance with maintenance, monitoring and improvements as needed. 
  • As a technical leader, you be will responsible for setting a strong example with coding and time-management best practices, mentoring junior talent, providing helpful feedback and technical guidance to ensure code is ready for sign-off, making sound hiring and retention decisions, and promoting a culture of learning. 
  • Lead code review, validation, and design review activities to ensure and demonstrate high-quality output, providing final sign-off for all eCommerce Data Science outputs  
  • Participate in program-wide roadmap planning and define project proposals, scope, dependencies, etc. to ensure successful delivery 
  • Effectively communicate project benefits, risks, and outcomes with appropriate level of technical detail for stakeholders of varying levels and backgrounds 
  • Empower and inspire data science team to deliver business value by translating abstract concepts into clear data science workflows  
  • Research new and trusted data science methods, models, etc. to provide strong technical direction to data science team 
  • Partner closely with global data engineering team in India, and be available during global working hours

What Skills You Need

 

  • 8 or more years of professional analytics experience including: 
  • 5 or more years of experience with a statistical programming language (Python preferred)  
  • 5 or more years of experience of advanced SQL programming 
  • 5 or more years of experience executing data science projects involving advanced techniques (such as NLP, Generative AI, statistical analysis, predictive modeling, financial forecasting, data visualization, and machine learning) from beginning to end 
  • Proven ability to successfully communicate complex concepts to non-technical audiences  
  • MS or higher in relevant field (Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, etc.) 

What Makes You Stand Out

 

  • Experience with Generative AI, specifically in developing RAG applications, prompt engineering, and incorporating human reinforcement learning  
  • Experience building NLP applications, especially LLM and Search 
  • Experience using Spark through python and/or Databricks 
  • Experience building financial models 
  • Experience working within the complex ecosystems including supply chain management, inventory optimization, and digital solutions within the manufacturing industry -OR- experience in omnichannel retail with e-Commerce focus 

Education

 

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

 

  • MS or higher in relevant field (Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, etc.)
