This position is eligible for a flexible work schedule arrangement at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.
Your Responsibilities
As a Hydraulics Engineer, Product Development for the John Deere Crop Care Hydraulics team located in Des Moines, IA you will be working on Application Equipment that protects and nurtures the world’s crop production. This position will be a part of the Engineering team for self-propelled Sprayers and Floaters. As a team member you will innovate, evaluate, and implement solutions to meet product requirements, cost targets and project schedules on Sprayer and/or Floater Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP) Programs as well as new feature projects. In addition, you will:
- Translates internal and external customer needs to engineering specifications for hydraulic / mechanical systems
- Supports marketing, manufacturing, quality, supply management, and other global teams with engineering expertise to assist programs and resolve current production issues
- Produces, evaluates and documents possible design solutions to provide required function, cost, quality and performance based on specialized knowledge of engineering applications. This may include possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and supplier personnel.
- Compiles and furnishes necessary information to document the design solution required for building of prototypes and adoption of the design
- Develops or collaborates in development of test or analysis plan for product verification and validation; assists with data interpretation, conclusions, and data-based decisions

What Skills You Need
- Skill in using computer aided design and/or engineering tools
- Experience working within a product delivery process
- Understanding of and experience with hydraulic systems and at least some relevant components: valves, pumps, motors, etc
- Understanding of and experience with stress/strain, fatigue and common mechanical design considerations
- Can effectively use calculation tools to translate physical problems to mathematical descriptions
- Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical individuals
What Makes You Stand Out
- John Deere engineering team and process experience, including Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP)
- Experience working in a matrix team environment
- Use of Creo CAD toolchain
- Experience and capability using Automation Studio for hydraulic circuits
- Experience and capability using Matlab
- Experience with Agricultural equipment, especially Application Equipment
- Experience with control systems in Agricultural or Construction equipment
Education
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Degree in an Engineering/Technology discipline - University Degree (4 years or equivalent)
- Degree in a Science discipline or - University Degree (4 years or equivalent)
- Degree in an Agricultural Sciences discipline - University Degree (4 years or equivalent)
