 This position will be located at the Research Park on the University Of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) campus in Champaign, Illinois.

 

The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.

Your Responsibilities

 

As a Part-Time Student-Research Specialist for John Deere’s ISG (Intelligent Solutions Group) located at the Research Park-John Deere Technology Innovation Center (JDTIC) in Champaign, Illinois, you will conduct research for a wide variety of business and engineering/technical/agronomy needs. You will utilize business databases and publicly available resources to research companies, technologies, and business issues. You will synthesize this information and present it in professional reports or PowerPoint presentations. All work will be performed at JDTIC in Champaign’s Research Park.

What Skills You Need

 

  • Ideally you will be enrolled in a Master’s program in Library & Information Science, Business, Communication, Agricultural Sciences or related field; others may apply
  • Must be registered as a full-time student at a local university
  • Ideal graduation date of May 2023 or later
  • Cumulative GPA 2.8 or above
  • Available to work 16-20 hours/week during the academic year
  • Available to work 35-40 hours/week during the summer semester
  • Must be able to commute to the work location in Champaign, Illinois, on a daily basis year-round
  • Advanced search techniques to find information resources and the ability to evaluate these sources for validity and relevance
  • Ability to synthesize information and present it in formal reports that are well-written and visually appealing
  • Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm to learn advanced topics
  • Ability to work autonomously while providing regular updates to team members

What Makes You Stand Out

 

  • Experience using business databases (D&B Hoovers, PrivCo, etc)
  • Experience using agriculture, science, and technology databases (IEEE, Web of Science, etc)
  • Experience with patent searching and intellectual property issues
  • Knowledge of technology standards (ANSI, ASTM, SAE, etc)
  • Knowledge of the agriculture or construction industry
