Your Responsibilities

As a Data Engineer for John Deere Financial (JDF) based at our new Chicago office, you will join a team to create a data platform for advanced analytics and model building in order to enable efficient customer services in various areas such as automatic loan approvals. Our team partners with product managers and data practitioners to design, scale, and deliver full-stack data solutions.  In this role you will: 

  • Develop data model and data pipeline, build rest APIs to provide data to downstream systems
  • Perform debugging and fixing application issues, root cause analysis, and help in proactive/preventive maintenance
  • Follow test-driven development approach
  • Help in technical debt reduction and follow clean code principles
  • Follow Security by design principles to define a security framework around data pipelines and APIs
  • Work as an Agile team member and participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, sprint review, spirit retrospective

What Skills You Need

  • 2+ years of experience with Data Engineering tools and technologies (Python, Apache Spark, Databricks, SQL, NoSQL, and Data Lakes)
  • 2+ years of experience with ETL, Data Modeling and Data Warehousing
  • 2+ years of experience with REST API using Java and Spring Boot
  • 1+ years of experience with Public Cloud (AWS, Google or Azure)

What Makes You Stand Out

  • 1+ years of AWS (Lambda, RDS, ECS, API Gateway, and S3)
  • 1+ years of experience with Scala or Data Bricks 
  • 1+ years of experience with Data Visualization Tools (Tableau or Power BI)
  • 1+ years of experience with DevOps (CICD with Git or Jenkins)
  • 1+ years of experience working in an Agile team environment
  • AWS Certification

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or equivalent experience in a related career field
