As the Solution Architect on our Architecture Integration team based in Chicago, IL, Moline, IL, or Des Moines, IA, you will be accountable for partnering closely with the Developer Experience product teams to research, select, and implement new technologies to improve and modernize integration practices and technologies at here at John Deere, as well as those of our partners and customers.


In addition to creating designs, your role as a Solution Architect will also involve creating architectural products that directly impact implementation and delivery. Furthermore, your work will be instrumental in modernizing and enhancing John Deere's solution architecture and ultimately for assuring that we remain at the forefront of agricultural technology and innovation.


You will also:


  • Architect key technology stack changes for our Developer Experience product family, such as GitHub, Artifactory, GitHub Actions, Drone, Mend and Kubernetes (AWS, Azure, Rancher)

  • Create designs and architectural work products that enable implementation and delivery of Developer Experience products.

  • Partner with the Developer Experience product teams and provide technical design assistance, guidance, and governance.

  • Maintain in-depth technical knowledge across multiple product families and create architectures and designs that cross-product families.

What Skills You Need


  • Expertise writing code for various applications as an engineer or architect within a community of software engineers
  • 4+ years of proven DevOps or eXtreme Programming practices as part of development
  • 4+ years of utilizing cloud solution providers, particularly AWS, to host applications and services
  • Track record of applying architecture principles and practices

What Makes You Stand Out


  • Proficiency in DevOps tools (e.g., GitHub, Drone, Docker), multiple programming languages (e.g. Java, Python), and container orchestration (e.g. Docker, K8s)
  • Experience creating solutions to enhance open-source utilization and security
  • Expertise in leading vendor/partner selection while considering compatibility constraints
  • Contribution to open-source platforms/tools



  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent solution architecture experience
