Your Responsibilities

 

As a 3rd Shift Manufacturing Engineer for John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline, IL, you will provide Assembly Manufacturing Engineering support and troubleshooting for current operations in the S-Series Combine business unit.              

 

  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects impacting safety, quality, efficiency, cost, and ergonomic improvements for department            
  • Establish routings, SOE (sequence of events), layouts, tooling, assembly costs, OMS (Operator Method Sheets), and control plans for revisions to current operations            
  • Work with SAP, MPPlanner, and JDAAT to perform engineering functions
  • Design cell layouts to improve material flow and part presentation in department

What Skills You Need

 

  • Ability to work off shifts and weekends if needed
  • Willingness to work 3rd shift - 9:30pm-7am - with the probability of moving to 1st shift in the future.
  • Good communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with salaried and wage personnel in a team environment 
  • A self-starter with the ability to execute a variety of tasks              
  • Experience in one of more related engineering areas: industrial, reliability, design, manufacturing, or quality            
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and working in a production environment              
  • Experience with shop floor documentation (Sequence of Events, Labor Standards, and Operator Methods Sheets)              
  • Experience with engineering tools, systems and databases          
  • Experience with line and process design, material presentation, cycles of imbalance and visual management tools

What Makes You Stand Out

 

  • Experience with MPPlanner for SOE and OMS development              
  • Experience working with incentive pay systems, especially gainsharing programs such as CIPP (Continuous Improvement Pay Plan)
  • Experience working in a union environment              
  • Experience with JDAAT MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems)
  • Experience with torque tooling              
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Creo View software

Education

 

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:    

 

  • Bachelors degree in an Engineering discipline
